Dermaplaning

Capture

Dermaplaning was once an aesthetic trade secret in the modeling industry. Excellent on its own or combined with hydrating facials, chemical peels or rejuvenating laser treatments, dermaplaning gently removes the outer most layer of dead skin cells on the face. A highly trained Medical Aesthetician or Nurse will manually exfoliate the treatment area using a 10 gauge scalpel. Vellus hair, also referred to as peach fuzz, is also removed during the treatment. The immediate result is fresh, bright skin revealed and a smoother look and feel to the skin. This treatment is recommended for all skin types with the exception of those who suffer from acne. This treatment is safe and effective for pregnant or nursing women.

How is this treatment performed?

By holding the skin taut, a sterile 10 gauge blade is stroked across the skin at a 45 degree angle exfoliating dry skin cells and vellus hair.

How often can this procedure be performed?

Monthly. Dermaplaning removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells. It is best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next Dermaplaning treatment.

Will the vellus hair grow back thicker?

No. It is physiologically impossible for vellus hair, also known as peach-fuzz, to grow back thicker. Vellus hair when cut or removed will grow back the same as the structure of the hair does not become damaged, it is unchanged.

Can Dermaplaning be performed with laser treatments or chemical peels?

Absolutely, it is often recommended.

Is this treatment safe?

This treatment is extremely safe when performed by an experienced Medical Aesthetician or Physician’s Assistant. It is comparable to a man shaving his face.
